Many of these programs offer a bilingual extension for students to become certified as bilingual school counselors. This option is found most often in New York City-based colleges and universities. 

New York has a robust system of public universities. Notably, this system is divided into two sub-systems; SUNY and CUNY. SUNY stands for the State University of New York.
